The Guildhall, or the Central Library
Northampton Registration Office is inside the Central Library on Abington Street, NN1 2BA. The ceremony room listed separately is the Guildhall on St Giles Street, so use the address that matches the booking. From 1 April 2026, a marriage or civil partnership at a registration service ceremony room, or at an approved venue, between 9am and 5pm is £634 Monday to Thursday. That charge includes the statutory fee for one certificate. A shorter registration, on Mondays between 9am and 11am at the library, or on Tuesday mornings at Towcester, is £74.50 for 2026/27.
The library slot is a working-office appointment. The Guildhall is the booking with room for guests and for pictures that need space. Say which of the two you have paid for, because the light, the stairs and the time you will be allowed are not the same. A short register-office signing is often covered in one or two hours. The council adds an hourly rate if a ceremony runs after 5pm, on top of the ceremony fee, and only when staff are available. If your Guildhall time is late in the afternoon, say whether you will still be on the steps after 5pm. If the meal is at another address, send it and ask for the travel to be included.

One or two hours is usually enough for that slot and a few pictures outside, if the office allows them. The window is 9am to 11am. Give the photographer your exact time, and ask them to arrive earlier than the start because Abington Street is slow on a Monday morning.
Does the £634 Monday rate include pictures after 5pm?
The £634 covers a ceremony between 9am and 5pm at a registration service ceremony room or an approved venue, including one certificate fee. After 5pm the council adds an hourly rate when staff are available. Say if your Guildhall pictures will run past five, so the quote matches the time you will actually be there.
Can we add a photographer to the Monday library appointment?
That £74.50 listing is the registry office registration, not the Guildhall. Ask the council who may be in the room before you plan pictures inside the library, and tell the photographer whether they will be in the room or at the door.
