The first Tuesday is at the Civic Centre
The register office in Reading is at the Civic Centre on Bridge Street. It is the statutory room: you plus two witnesses, no other guests, and no music, readings or personalisation. It is available on the first Tuesday morning of each month. The fees page, updated on 22 April 2026, lists that appointment at £62. You take the next available date. You cannot pick a particular Tuesday. A short signing is often covered in one or two hours, ceremony plus a few pictures outside. Ask whether a photographer can be in a room that allows only the two witnesses. If not, the pictures are outside on Bridge Street.
For a chosen date, the Forbury Room is £120 on Mondays, and the ceremony room at Reading Museum and Town Hall is £248 Monday to Thursday, £336 on Friday and Saturday, and £572 on Sunday. A non-refundable deposit of £56 is taken when you book, and the balance is due within five weeks. The Town Hall portraits are on Blagrave Street. The £62 slot is on Bridge Street. Approved venues elsewhere are £463 Monday to Thursday, between 9am and 5pm.

Tell the photographer which door. A witnesses-only morning at the Civic Centre and a guest ceremony at the Museum and Town Hall need different hours. If the meal is a further stop, put that address in the quote. The £56 deposit is the council's hold on the date.
Can we choose the first Tuesday, and how long is the coverage?
You are given the next available first Tuesday. For a specific day, book the Forbury Room or the Museum and Town Hall. One or two hours often covers the £62 signing and a few pictures outside. Ask if a camera can join you and the two witnesses.
What did the 22 April 2026 table charge for each room?

Who is allowed in the Bridge Street ceremony?
You and two witnesses. Music, readings and personalisation are not permitted there. Ask if a photographer can stand in the room. If not, meet them outside on Bridge Street. Blagrave Street portraits belong to the Museum and Town Hall ceremony, so book that room if the Town Hall is the picture you want.

The ceremony building, the start time, the meal address, and the time you leave. Approved venues elsewhere are £463 on Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 5pm. Travel between Bridge Street, Blagrave Street and a reception should be written in if you are using more than one of them.
