Name the building, then the hours
A civil ceremony in Canterbury is booked with Kent's registration service at one particular building. A church wedding is a different building. When you ask a photographer for a price, name that building, the time you start, and how many hours you want them there. Also say which door they should meet you at, and whether the portraits are outside or just inside. The town name on its own does not tell them any of that.
Add the street if you have it. On a Saturday the old one-way streets get busy, so say whether a car can stop outside or whether you and your guests will walk from a car park. That is the difference between pictures at the door and pictures a few minutes later. If the meal is somewhere else in Kent, send the second address and the time you leave the ceremony, and ask whether that drive is included or quoted as a travel fee.
A register-office signing is usually a short booking. One or two hours covers the ceremony and a few pictures afterwards. A church service, group photographs, or a meal you want covered needs more time, and the quote should be for those hours. The figure in the panel above is a full day. How many hours of photography do we need for a Canterbury ceremony?

What should we send so the quote is accurate?
The ceremony building, the start time, and the hours you want. Add the door or car park where the photographer should meet you. If the meal is in another Kent town, add that address and the time you leave.
Do we pay a travel fee between two Kent venues?
Ask each photographer to say whether the drive is included. With both addresses and your leaving time, they can put the journey in the price or leave it out on purpose. A short signing at one building should not pick up a second venue you have not asked for.
Where should the photographer meet us?
Name the door, and say whether cars can stop there or everyone walks from a car park. On a busy Saturday that note is what gets them to you in time for the first pictures.
