Penallta House, which is not in the town centre
Caerphilly County Borough Council keeps the register office at Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, CF82 7PG. Blackwood is the town on this page, and it is not the address on the fee page. Ceremonies use a separate entrance on the right-hand side of the main building, with its own car park. Visitor parking and the main reception are for appointments, not the ceremony door. A photographer who uses the visitor door will miss the entrance pictures. Send the ceremony entrance, the start time, and the room.
The statutory room, for the two of you and two witnesses, is £62. Craig Penallta seats the two of you and up to 48 guests, so the 48 is on top of the couple. It is £272 Monday to Friday and £382 on Saturday. Approved venues are £355 Monday to Friday. Say if the photographer will be inside Craig Penallta, so you can see whether they fit among those guests. A two-witness signing is often covered in one or two hours, ceremony plus a few pictures outside the ceremony entrance.
Ystrad Mynach, or the Llanarth at Pontllanfraith
The Llanarth at Pontllanfraith is one of the licensed venues if the party is closer to home than Ystrad Mynach. Name it if that is the booking. If you are travelling from Blackwood to Penallta House, ask for that drive to be written down when the photographer is not already nearby. Craig Penallta, with up to 48 guests besides you, needs longer than the statutory room if you want groups. A meal at a second venue should be its own line in the quote.
Where should they stand for the entrance pictures at Penallta House?
At the ceremony entrance on the right-hand side of the building, which has its own car park. The visitor door and main reception are the wrong side for the vows. Put that in the arrival note, with the start time.
Who can be in the £62 room, and where are the pictures?
The smaller room is for the two of you and two witnesses only. One or two hours often covers that signing and a few pictures outside the ceremony entrance. Say if the photographer is one of the witnesses or is waiting at that door.
How many does Craig Penallta hold on a weekday?
The two of you and up to 48 guests. Monday to Friday is £272. Saturday is £382. The 48 does not include the couple. Tell them how many guests you are actually inviting, and how long you want for groups.
What if we marry at the Llanarth in Pontllanfraith instead?
Name the Llanarth. Approved venues are £355 Monday to Friday on the council's side of the booking. It is a different address from Penallta House. If you are also stopping at Ystrad Mynach, the quote needs both buildings and the drive between them.
