Grand and historic wedding venues in Leicester

Leicester Guildhall, Guildhall Lane

The Guildhall, beside the cathedral, is the medieval hall couples book when they want a ceremony in the old centre. It has two licensed rooms. The Great Hall takes ceremonies of up to 90. The Mayor's Parlour takes up to 30. Ceremonies start from £782, with time for photographs. The cathedral yard is outside the Guildhall, so the photographs after the ceremony stay next door.

Abbey Pumping Station, Corporation Road

Abbey Pumping Station, Corporation Road, LE4 5PX, is the Victorian engine house couples book for a ceremony among the beam engines. Weddings start from £790. The Electric Switch Room is licensed for up to 50. The marquee seats up to 160. Those engines are the reason couples come, and they are in the same building as the vows.

The museums index is the useful page when you want a museum wedding with a published starting price. It says wedding hires across its venues start from £750, and that the museum on New Walk reopens for weddings in 2026 after renovation. Ask the museum what they charge for your date. New Walk is the avenue outside, so a shorter booking can include the museum and a few minutes on the walk.

Winstanley House, Hinckley Road

Winstanley House on Hinckley Road is the house couples book when they want grounds with a licensed ceremony. It is on the Home Office approved-premises table. Ask the house what they charge for your date. The grounds are part of the house, which means the photographs do not need another address.

City-centre wedding venues in Leicester

Leicester Town Hall, Town Hall Square

Leicester Town Hall on Town Hall Square is the council building couples book when they want a room that matches the guest list, from a tiny Wednesday signing to the Oak Room. It holds the Oak Room for 80, the Fountain Room for 40, the Laurel Room for 10, and the Cherry Room for the couple and two witnesses on Wednesday afternoons. The room fee is on the council's own charges page. Ask the Town Hall which figure applies to the room you want. Town Hall Square is the first stop after the room, and it is included in the time you are already there.

Devonshire Place, London Road

Devonshire Place, 78 London Road, LE2 0RA, is the London Road venue couples book for a licensed ceremony a short walk from the centre. It is on the Home Office table. Ask what the room costs on your date. London Road is the pavement outside, so the photographs can follow the ceremony on foot.

Holiday Inn Leicester, St Nicholas Circle

Holiday Inn Leicester on St Nicholas Circle is the city hotel couples book when they want the ceremony near Jewry Wall. It is on the Home Office table. Ask the hotel which package fits your date. St Nicholas Circle and Jewry Wall are a short walk, which suits a booking that stays in the centre.

Hilton Leicester, Junction 21

Hilton Leicester at Junction 21 is the hotel couples book when they want the ceremony and the bedrooms on the edge of the city. It is on the Home Office table. Ask the hotel which package fits your date. The hotel holds both, so you do not add a second location at Junction 21.

The City Rooms, Hotel Street

The City Rooms, 16 Hotel Street, LE1 5AW, is the Grade I Georgian hall couples book for a grand room in the centre. The Ballroom takes up to 200 for the ceremony, the breakfast and the evening. The Dining Room takes a ceremony of 80, drinks for 100, a breakfast of 60 and an evening of 100. The Drawing Room takes a ceremony of 60 and a breakfast of 35. The 2022 brochure lists a ceremony on its own from £1,500, Monday to Thursday. Ask the hall for the current package. The staircase and the facade are on Hotel Street, so the formal photographs happen before anyone leaves the hall.

Athena, Queen Street

Athena, Queen Street, LE1 1QD, is the 1930s art deco hall couples book when they want exclusive hire and their own drinks. The wedding page hosts civil ceremonies and parties of 200 or more, with exclusive hire, and you may bring your own drinks with no corkage. The room table gives the Cinema Suite a banquet of 700. Ask which layout a wedding uses. One hall holds the vows and the party, which means you can book the hours inside Queen Street and stop there.

The Belmont Hotel, De Montfort Street

The Belmont Hotel, 20 De Montfort Street, LE1 7GR, is the hotel on New Walk that couples book because it has hosted weddings for over 40 years. Ask the hotel what the room and the package cost for your date. New Walk starts at the door, so a short booking can take the avenue as well as the ceremony.

Jewry Wall and St Nicholas Circle

Jewry Wall is 2nd-century Roman masonry, two large archways, standing by St Nicholas' Circle and St Nicholas' Church. It was the west wall of a public building in Ratae Corieltauvorum, beside baths excavated in the 1930s and left open to view. The wall names the museum next to it. It is a centre stop, free to look at from the street, and it does not need a second venue.

Bradgate Park and Old John

Bradgate Park is a public park in Charnwood Forest, north-west of the city, covering 850 acres between Newtown Linford, Anstey, Cropston, Woodhouse Eaves and Swithland. The River Lin runs through it into Cropston Reservoir. Old John and the war memorial sit just above the 210 metre contour. The park and the reservoir are a Site of Special Scientific Interest of 399.3 hectares. It is a portrait landscape, not a city-centre step. Put the drive in the hours. A couple on the paths is using a public park. A booked event is a question for the park.

Leicester history and landmarks

history of Leicester is a unitary authority and the county town. The article calls it the largest city in the East Midlands, with a population of 383,116 in 2025, and a greater urban area of 559,017 in 2021. The photographs split between that modern city and the Roman masonry left in the centre.

Jewry Wall is the piece of Ratae Corieltauvorum you can stand beside: a public building's west wall, 2nd century, with the bath foundations opened in the 1930s. St Nicholas' Church is immediately next to it, which is why a single frame can hold Roman brick and a medieval church. That pairing is the centre's portrait, and it costs nothing.

Bradgate is the county's open hill, not the Roman town. Old John is the landmark above 210 metres. Using it on a wedding day means leaving the unitary boundary. The history and the travel are the same fact.

Leicester wedding weather by month

The Midlands pages on the Met Office regional climates index are the regional note. No millimetre of rain is copied onto the city. Bradgate, above 210 metres, is a different afternoon from St Nicholas' Circle. If the portraits are on the hill, pack for the hill.

Areas near Leicester our photographers cover

The quote form also covers Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Hinckley, Coalville and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Name the town if the meal is there. Bradgate, though closer than Loughborough, is still outside the centre. The October survey prices photography, not the drive.

Leicester registry office weddings

Room fees stay on the council's own table. A small wedding or a micro wedding is still a photography shape: often one or two hours if the signing is short, on the UK rows of £450 where the hours are stated. The legal building might be in the centre or it might be the room attached to a county venue. Those are different days.

Put the building name and the slot on the quote. Include the guest count the office gave you, and ask whether a photographer is inside that count. Notice is given at the register office for the district where you live, which may not be the district where you marry. Registry office photography costs collects towns that do publish a fee. When this city's table is the one in front of you, use that table rather than a remembered number.

What to tell your Leicester wedding photographer

The single most useful line is which of those three the day actually is.

  • The date.
  • The ceremony building and the time, as the council wrote them.
  • Centre, a named suburb, or a county venue, plus Bradgate if you are going.
  • Short signing, half day, or full day.
  • Album, second photographer, or video if you want a price.
  • A budget near £1,450, £1,500 or £1,550.
