The Brooke Room on Ascham Road
The register office is now at Ascham Road, Cambridge, CB4 2BD. The offices and the ceremony room have both moved, and the ceremony room is the Brooke Room. The fee table lists attendance at the register office at £62, and attendance at a registered building at £114.50. The page points to a General Register Office table dated April 2026. Further ceremony fees sit on the council's ceremonies site, so if you are in one of those other rooms, send the figure from your own confirmation.
If the registrars are coming to a hotel, that fee is set locally and is not the £62 line. A college is the ceremony venue only if it is the approved venue on your booking. College courts are often nothing to do with the legal ceremony. A short register-office signing is often covered in one or two hours, ceremony plus a few pictures outside the Brooke Room. Weekend opening is for ceremonies that have been booked. If the meal is at a hotel or college, send that address and the start time, and ask whether the drive from Ascham Road is included. Send the ceremony time, not an earlier appointment at the same postcode.
How long do we need at the Brooke Room?
One or two hours usually covers register-office attendance at £62 and a few pictures outside. Say if you want longer. If the ceremony is at a hotel, send the hotel's start time and say whether the Brooke Room is involved at all.
What is the £114.50, and does the photographer need it?
It is attendance at a registered building, where a registrar has to attend. It is not the £62 register-office line, and it is not the photographer's fee. Name the building so the hours are quoted for that address.
Can we treat a college as the ceremony venue?
Only if that college is the approved venue on your booking. Otherwise the £62 line is attendance at the register office on Ascham Road. A hotel or college hire is a separate conversation with the venue, and the photographer needs that venue's start time.
Will a photographer be allowed in the Brooke Room?
Ask the office and write the answer down. If they are meeting you outside, say which door, so the first pictures are not lost while they look for the entrance. The room is the ceremony room at Ascham Road.
The meal is at a hotel. What should the quote cover?
The hotel address, the time you leave Ascham Road, and whether you want the gap and the drive included. The hotel fee for the registrars is set locally. A Brooke Room signing on its own should not pick up a reception you have not named.
