The Oak Room, then the cloisters
If you are marrying in Hertford, the register office is at County Hall, Pegs Lane, SG13 8DE. It can take up to 50 guests, not including the couple or the photographer. The Oak Room is the ceremony room. The Millennium Garden beside it has a paved area with disabled access, and the sheltered cloisters by the main entrance are the place for photographs in any weather. Use Entrance 1, signed Register Office.
For 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 a register-office ceremony is £476 Monday to Friday, £612 on Saturday, and £661 on Sunday or a bank holiday. A Monday to Friday ceremony at 4.30pm is also £612. A £75 booking fee forms part of that final fee. Fifty guests means fifty besides the two of you and the person with the camera. A short register-office signing is often covered in one or two hours, and the cloisters are the sensible place if the weather turns. Weekday parking is limited to two spaces marked Registration Appointments Only, so agree a drop-off at Entrance 1 rather than a hunt for a bay. Weekend parking is unlimited. If the meal is elsewhere, send that address and ask for the travel to be included.
