A Guildhall signing for two witnesses
The register office in Bath is in the Guildhall, a Grade 1 listed building on the High Street. The register-office ceremony is for the two of you and two witnesses only, in an office rather than a ceremonial room, and without enhancements. It is offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9am, 9.30am and 10am. For 2025/26 the fee is £62, plus a non-refundable booking fee of £50. A photographer cannot take photographs during the ceremony unless they are one of the two witnesses. Pictures after the ceremony, as you leave onto the high street, are allowed.
Parade Gardens, open in the summer, are a short walk and work as a backdrop. A January booking should not assume they are open. One or two hours often covers this statutory signing and the pictures on the high street. Say the exact slot.
The Jane Austen Room, the Blue Room, and the south door
The Jane Austen Room takes ceremonies Monday to Thursday at 9am, 9.30am, 10am or 10.30am, and on Monday and Tuesday afternoons at 1pm, 1.30pm, 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm or 3.30pm. Every listed slot is £270. The Blue Room is the Saturday alternative, at 9am, 9.30am and 10am, also £270. If you want pictures inside the legal moment, either one witness is the photographer, or you book one of those rooms instead of the statutory office. Send the room name and the exact slot. Dried petals, if you use them, are for the south door rather than the main entrance, so name that door for the portraits. If the meal is away from the High Street, add that address.
Can the photographer work during the register-office ceremony at the Guildhall?
Only if they are one of the two witnesses. Otherwise the pictures are after you exit onto the high street. Say which plan you want. The 2025/26 fee for that ceremony is £62, plus a £50 booking fee, at 9am, 9.30am or 10am, Monday to Thursday.
How many hours fit the £62 Guildhall office, and can we use Parade Gardens?
