Two witnesses, twelve people, or a room for fifty
A statutory ceremony in the Macclesfield Room, at the Town Hall Extension, takes the couple and two adult witnesses only. The fee is £74.50, the £62 statutory fee plus £12.50 for one certificate. If the fee later increases, the outstanding balance is payable. The room can be held up to 12 months ahead. The Mayor's Parlour, on the first floor of the Town Hall, holds up to 12 people, including the couple and guests of any age. Everyone arrives together, so there is no separate entrance photograph of one of you waiting. Enhancements are not offered in the statutory rooms or in the Mayor's Parlour.
The Mayor's Reception Room, also on the first floor, holds up to 50, including children and babies. The Silk Room, on the ground floor, holds up to 50 as well. In both, you can arrive together or separately, and there is a system for a CD, Bluetooth or USB if you bring music. Fees for those larger rooms are on the council's marriage-fees page, so use the figure on your confirmation. Two witnesses is a short legal appointment. One or two hours often covers it and a few pictures outside. Twelve in the Mayor's Parlour is still a small group, arriving together. Fifty is where an entrance and your own music come in. Crewe shares the availability calendar, so name this Town Hall. Some rooms are booked outside the registration service, so the room name has to be exact. If the meal is elsewhere, add that address to the quote.
Who can be in the Macclesfield Room for the photographs?
The couple and two adult witnesses. The fee is £74.50. If the photographer is not one of those witnesses, pictures of anyone else are outside, or in a larger room. Say which room you have booked.
How many hours does the Mayor's Parlour need?
It holds up to 12, including guests of any age, and everyone arrives together, so the pictures start as a group. One or two hours often covers a small ceremony and a few pictures afterwards. Enhancements are not offered in that room.
Which rooms hold 50 people, and do babies count?
The Mayor's Reception Room and the Silk Room each hold up to 50, including children and babies. Both can play music you provide. You may arrive together or separately, which gives you an entrance the Parlour does not.
What if the room is not one the registration service runs?
Put the room name in the enquiry in any case. Some Town Hall rooms are booked separately from the registration rooms. The photographer still needs the start time and whether your limit is 12 people or 50.
What if we are deciding between this Town Hall and Crewe?
Name the building you have booked, the room, and the start time. Crewe is on the same availability calendar and is a different drive. Add a meal address if you leave after the signing.
